TEACHING A CHILD TO PAINT

Have you ever shared your painting talent with a child? It is amazing what happens when you teach a child to paint. Their eyes light up when they finally get the brush in their hand. When I ask a child which brush they would like it is always the biggest, longest brush. In teaching a child to paint make it fun and exciting for them. We have gone on a nature walk and collected flower petals and painted with them. The young artist thought that was something to pick rose petals and paint with them.
Do you know of a group that could use your talent? Hmm, lets think of a few,
1. Scout troops
2. Home School children
3. A mom who needs a break
I am sure you are thinking of some one right now who you can teach to paint.
When I know the children that I am teaching I usually have them come to my home to paint. I have found that a 2 hour session is best. I will stop after 1 hour and have a snack for the little artist. They have learned to look at the clock to see if one hour is up for snack time!!
It truly is a blessing to take a few hours every now and then and teach a child or group of children to paint. Keep it simple and bright is one of the best suggestions I can give.
If you would like to teach child to paint feel free to click and save the above graphic titled TEACH A CHILD TO PAINT. I made this button and it is yours, my gift to you in promoting art to the young.

Lets take a walk down Memory Lane

Do you remember Post Toasties that came in a box like this one?
Did you read the back of the box?
Did you get toys out of the box?
Boy if we only had those toys from the ceral box we could make some $$ on ebay !!

I love the colors on this photo and it would be adorable on a greeting card or as an added graphic for your website or blog.

Click and Save to your computer
Hope you enjoy it !!

As a painter I like to do color studies.

Take a look at the detail in the different shades of color in the silver cream pitcher. The detail of the design in the bowl is so inviting also. It draws your eye from the blue in the bowl to the blue berries behind the box. Also take a look at the box and notice all the different shades of yellows. Isn't it fun to see what we are looking at. Lets all take time to enjoy and see what we are looking at.

You may be thinking, I do see what I am looking at. If we really study we will see so much more. Hope you enjoyed this little study on the old advertisement

Enjoy Your Talent !!

Hello Painting Friends !!
Are you familiar with the color wheel? I have enjoyed learning the basics of color over the summer. Do you remember the days playing Eye Spy? How about playing eye spy for different colors that are found on the color wheel. A red hat, red orange flower, orange pumpkin, etc. Start with red and work your way around the wheel. If you don't have time to take pictures and all the computer stuff that can sometimes drive us all crazy. (Like how did I do that last time) There are many free photo sites online where you can load photo's for free. (Don't ya just love the word free?) I found a fabulous site where I loaded most of my pictures for free !! There are a number of free photo sites on the web the one I used is:
www.free-stock-photos.co.uk

Hope you can take time and enjoy your talent

Gods Creation is Awesome !!

The above photos are of the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes over looking Lake Michigan. My grandsons walking the wooden boardwalk which is wheelchair accessible.
I sat my brushes down for a while and enjoyed the creation of God's handy work. It amazes me when I take time to enjoy Gods creation, I can hardly wait to get back and get my brushes moving again. The photo is of Lake Michigan at Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. If ever you are in Michigan you will want to go to Sleeping Bear and climb the dunes. You can take a beautiful road trip up the dunes with look out stops along the way. On one stop many people go down the side of the dunes to the lake shore. It takes about 2 min. to get down and 2 hours to climb back up!! We watched a gentleman in his sixties make the climb back up. When we talked to him after his victory of making it up the sand dunes he stated that he had climbed the dunes 20 years ago and it sure was much easier then. We congratulated him on the victory of the challenge. There are signs posted along a wooden boardwalk cautioning tourist about the danger of climbing the dunes. We did climb the dunes at an other location which is much easier for the parking lot is at the base of the dunes.
